Moe!kestra

On October 13, I had the pleasure of participating in Moe!kestra, a unique ensemble put together by Moe! Staiano, an avant-garde experimental musician.

The 15-piece included two violins, two cellos, viola, bass, four drummers and three guitars, and conducted by Moe!, who composed the piece. The guitars were unconventionally set up with all strings tuned to the same note, and played by "sawing" over the strings at different locations on the neck with metal springs, thus creating an almost whining sound.

We performed the piece at the Luggage Store Gallery on Market Street in San Francisco to a full house of at least 40 people. It was really fun to be involved in something like this, and I will jump at the chance to do it again!

Some updates and music added

Hallo there!
Yes, I've gotten some time to work on this site some more. I figured out how to add some music playlists, and will be adding some songs by the various bands I've been in to the site. You can now listen to Borrowed Time's album on the page for that band.

"The writing is the hardest part"

Yes, I find writing content the most daunting task here, because you can always make it better, and I'll edit furiously for hours. So that's why there's less content than I was hoping for by now. Slowly but surely.

And don't call me Shirley.

Welcome to the *new* melne.com

Howdy and welcome!

Yes, after nearly 10 years of the same old, same old static and stale website, I'm making a new one!

Not that you all have been drumming your fingers and/or clicking this url every day with the hope that there might actually be an update to melne dot com... I've changed servers, and that seemed like as good a reason as any to throw out the old and create something completely new.

It will definitely take some time, so, like a garden plot planted with seeds, sit back and watch, as this new site sprouts, grows and eventually blooms.

cheers!
