CoverGrrlz drummer Tymber was asked to contribute a holiday song to Seattle-based Green Monkey Records second annual holiday song collection.
She asked me to be her co-conspirator, and together we came up with a version of the old favorite, "Jingle Bell Rock."
We wanted to do something different with it, so I delved into something I know very little about--reharmonization--and came up with an interesting jazzed up version using tritone substitutions, alternate chords and swapping part of the tune's 4/4 swing feel for a triplet/waltz feel.
