Last Sunday, July 17, The CoverGrrlz had our first performance with our new downsized line-up!

L-R: TWFmelne (gtr), Jules (vx) , Tymber (dr), Carlotta (bs)
We played at the San Anselmo Art and Wine Fair, opening for the fabulous Beatles tribute band, The Sun Kings.
Many Northern California towns have these fun street festivals, and each has its own flavor. This one was nestled in the quaint small-town atmosphere of San Anselmo, where the streets are sprinkled with fanciful boutiques and eateries, where you can wile away hours perusing different shops.
For this event, the main street is lined with booths filled with every type of artist and crafter you can imagine. Everything from the fine arts of painting and sculpture to whimsical crafts were on display, and there were stages at both ends of the street offering entertainment all day.
As the first time out with the new line-up, and a bunch of new songs, I'd say we all had our share of nerves, but all those hours of practice really paid off, as the show went on with only a few little problems, and the band rolled right through them and kept the show moving and shaking.
It was great to see a lot of friendly faces in the crowd, too, as most my cohorts from Steve's Garage Band made the trip across the bay to see us. Three of the CoverGrrlz hail from Marin County, and they had plenty of local friends there as well. Our former guitarist, Trixie Deelite also made the trip, and took the picture you see above!
We had great weather--the morning was somewhat overcast (which meant it was a great temperature for performing!) and as we played on the marine layer burnt off and we were greeted with sunshine and a cool breeze.
So our 4-piece debut is "in the books," and now we're looking forward to August 11, where we'll be providing the soundtrack to Morgan Hill's Thursday Street Dance.

CoverGrrlz are the band I've been in since 2006. We're an all-woman rock and roll cover band, and it's been really fun over the years bringing our "Rock Hits With Glitz" to life for people all over the Bay Area and beyond.

CoverGrrlz were born of a Rolling Stones tribute band, where the core members met. That project suddenly collapsed--but we each realized we had something special, and a few phone calls cemented the rise of a new band--The CoverGrrlz had arrived!
We began by playing a plethora of Rolling Stones songs--four of five of us being sourced from a Rolling Stones Tribute band and all, well, that's what we knew--but we wanted to expand our repertoire to include the full range of the music we loved.
So we began learning new songs and slowly jettisoning the extraneous Stones tunes. (We still keep a couple!). Our songlist now spans the '50s to today. We have fun exploring all sorts of tunes, and our songlist is constantly changing and evolving as tunes pass in and out.
As the years passed, we also have some membership changes. And as it stands now, I am the only remaining original member. I've been privileged to work with some of the finest Bay Area women musicians, and have enjoyed playing with each and every one of them.
Our newest changes came this spring, when our founding singer, Kat Velour, and guitar player, Trixie Deelite had their lives take unexpected turns, and they had to leave the band.
It was a big blow to lose two of our talented people at once. But they hoped we would continue, and we indeed have. We decided to move ahead as a four-piece band, and found a great new vocalist in Jules.
We'll be hitting the gigs again this summer, so come out and see us with our new line-up and a bunch of new songs!
So it's onward and upward with The CoverGrrlz - Reloaded!
